I see the Bottom Draco, vs the Bottom Harry battle is upon us again.

Now I might be really very bizarre, because in all honesty, if you asked me to tell you which one bottomed in the last, oh I don't know 5 stories I read, I couldn't tell you. Really, I have no idea.

I just don't pay any attention to it. And just so you know, I don't believe bottoming equals weakest by any stretch of the imagination.

I just signed up to be a cheerleader in the [info]dracobigbang I knew there was no way I could write a fic that long, without driving myself and everyone else insane. (although I am working on a really long one, featuring Draco allready). So if anyone signed up for a cheerleader, I may be yours. Yay. I agreed to Harry/Draco, (well duh), Ron/Draco, Neville/Draco, and Teddy/Draco.

This should be such fun, no pressure on me. And I promise to give you lots of virtual tea, coffee, beer, vodka, whatever, and chocalate for encouragment.

I also in moments of insanity signed up to be pitchhitter in two other fests going on. I know one of them was the [info]hp_yule_balls I can't for the life of me remember what the other one was. *face palm*

Well, we received our new shifts. I'm not sure I'm going to love mine. I'll now be starting work at 10am and going until 830pm. yes it completely shoots the whole day. Too early in the morning for morning activites and too late in the evening to do anything after work, except bar hop which I don't do. The good thing is I get 3 days in a row off, mon/tue/wed. The bad news is I have to work 4 10 hour days in a row with no breaks. It makes for a really long week. It doesn't start till mid jan.

( Gina, this may effect my coming to see you. I'm not sure, yet. I wan't planning on having to take 4 days of vacation time. sorry, I'll have to see what I can work out. )

Those of you who post birthday porn regularly, or just have a cache of pretty men on your harddrive, can you hook me up? I am in need of tall willowy, slender blonds, but the hair needs to be fairly long, at least shoulder length. And if you can find one or two dressed in a medieval style dress, well I'll love you forever!!! If you can give me the link of where you found them. That would be even better. *hugs*

Here's a description of the character by the writer.

"The approaching prince looked as well bred as his horse. His corn silk hair, as long as a girl's, was caught in a tail at the nape of his neck. His green silk shirt nd tan leather breeches were immaculate. the gloss on his black leather boots was blinding. His thin face was lively with appreciation as he waved and smiled at the well wishers.

...There was something about the prince. The king's son possessed an auro of authority. Of grace, even. Something inborn, of blood and bone and breeding. Something that made him...different.

Now, i don't expect it to have everything, but If I can find a pic with the long blond hair, the thin face and body, and the aura of grace. I'll be oh so very very happy.

I received a wonderful e-gift from [info]ldydark1today. A huge Thank you! It's a gold star, how lovely is that?

The message you sent made my day. You have no idea. It was just what I needed to hear. *hugs*

You have no idea what that did for my mood! I've been floundering most of the day. Feeling mostly unloved and unlovable.

That and an offer to beta from [info]graylor, and an offer for iconage from [info]thrihyrnetotally perked up the day. Thank you to all of you.

In other news, I survived round 1 of the [info]harryscorp100LDWS contest. With this:

I've spent the last couple of hours deleting many of the posts about writing in this journal. In the process I realized I had made requests for beta help on multiple occassions, something I hate doing. I hope to never have to do that again, as a matter of fact it will only be done, if a fest requires the fic to be beta read.

To that end, to keep that from happening, if you've ever betaed for me before and would not mind doing it again, please email me your inform at emansil08@gmail.com. Or if you've not betaed but think you may be willing to give it a show, email me and the above email address. This way I won't have to bother anyone here with those type of requests.

I also deleted pretty much anything and everything that was a whine about any subject. I'll be keeping the majority of those to myself. One or two may slip through, that seems to be human, or at least, my nature. I'll try to keep them to a minimum.

Your reading habits

  • Nov. 21st, 2009 at 6:53 PM

I'm very curious about everyone's reading habits. There's just one question, an either or kind.

1.When you find an author that you like, either published in book form, or fan fic author. Do you inhale everything that person has written until you wake up 3 months later to find you now have to find another author to read?

or

2. Do you tend to read some of their stuff, but hold back on reading everything, saving some to be savored and read later?

Personally I'm of the 2nd variety. It is very very rare for me to read everything by an author, no matter how much I like them. I always want to save at least one, sometimes more so I know I'll always have something to look forward to. I've still not read maya's Drop Dead Gorgeous. I have it printed and bound in a lovely notebook. But, I know once I read it, that's it, she's done. I'll never have the chance to read a Maya fan fic for the first time ever again. Also, to be perfectly honest the only reason Deathly Hallows has been read, was because I knew there would be fanfic written, and discussions mounted here on lj. Otherwise it would probably still be waiting for me to have that first read.

emansi's Christmas wish list.

  • Nov. 20th, 2009 at 5:32 PM

Okay, so stolen from so many people I can't even begin to remember all of them.

Step One

* Make a post to your LJ with a list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, big or small, expensive or free, fandom-related or not. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

* Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I am having a serious technical issue. Can someone please help?

I'm trying to put my request in hp_art tales, but it either goes in with all the html coding showing, which isn't right. Or, it it won't attach the links that I"m trying to attach.

I've tried every thing I know. Please someone help. I don't normally have this problem. I'm not sure what is going on this time.

Thanks.

randomosity ahead.

Did Dodie Smith of "I capture the Castle" fame, also write "101 Dalmations"? Really, who the fuck knew that? Awesome!

I've been reading over the yuletide list for this year. OMG, I so could have done some of these. I need to keep this in mind for next year. *yep" There's Deryni, and Eragon, and Septimus Heap, and, Innocent Mage and a whole host of others.

I'm sorry for the total spammage yesterday. I was feeling alone and stressed and wanted to reach out for companionship. I think perhaps I overdid it. Please to be forgiving.

Hugs all

ETA: And the Heaven Tree Trilogy by Edith Pargeter. You guys have no idea how much I loved, loved this book. I really need to reread it,and soon.

Okay, I can understand not wanting to take on betaing a whole story, but I just need one sentence checked. I'm not sure about some comma placements. Anyone?!?

weekly mass of nothingness

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 8:29 PM

Wow, it seems I had a whole lot more stuff to talk about than I can think of right now. I guess we'll just play headline news, most of it will be pretty random, so no worries if you want to do a fly by read.

You know what is real annoying? When you have to call somewhere , and they put you on eternal hold, only to hang up on you, once you finally get disconnected. ARRgh. I'm trying to reach a hotel chain based in Mexico and that has now happened 3 times in a row. I'm getting a headache trying to deal with this.

I had a nice long chat with my friend [info]thrihyrne (I still have to look up how to spell her lj name, each and every time) on Fri before work, which was a lovely way to start the day.

I'm still working on my fic for Nano, but there is no way on god's green earth, I'll make the 50,000. But it is giving me the incentive to try and buckle down each day, or at least every other day and write. I'm not expecting much readership, when it's finished as it 1)starts off fluff, 2) goes to dark and 3) ends on a high angst note. Not a happy ending. so I'm taking care of those who don't like fluff with the beginning and those that don't like it dark, or angst with the end. Btu that's okay, it's the story I want to tell. I think it has potential for being the best I've ever written, if I can only put in words the pictures and snapshots I have in my brain.

I signed up for the [info]harryscorp100 ldws thingie. I full expect to be going down within the first or second week. It's been a while since I've drabbled, I needed to get my slashing (words not people) muscle back again. Of course I may go slightly schizoid trying to both write 50,000 words in a month, and keepng the drabble thing down to under 300.

I refound 2 new friends today from the old [info]hapendfro days, welcome [info]lin4gondor and [info]oropher_777 back into my crazy lj world.

I should go, that's pretty much it. except I have a work friend who has discovered the joy and wonder of writing. so we meet up and talk writing from time to time. She's there by way of Twilight, *shudders*, but I love her anyway. LOL.

Well the reveals have gone up in [info]hp_cross_festSo I can admit to having written the following story:  The Garden Won't Will Wait:. I had a lot of fun writing this, and I'd love to see more Albus/Neville fics in the future.  I just wish I knew who it was that gave the original prompt, as I'd love to thank them for giving me such a delicious idea to write.

Happy Birthdays

  • Nov. 8th, 2009 at 5:57 PM

Before I completely fail at life, and forget, I want to wish two very special people big ole Happy Birthdays.

[info]hpstrangelove whose special day is today.  I hope it's an awesome birthday love.

Birthday wishes

It's still 3.5 hours until it's no longer her birthday. Happy Birthday to [info]lavillanueva .  Hope it's a fantastic one!

Nov. 2nd, 2009

  • 6:13 PM

You know what makes for a happy day?   Rereading old fics that you thought were wonderful at the time, and having them continue to uphold their wonderfulness.  Currently rereading Coming Home by Empathic Siren. And just as wonderful as i remembered.   I am happy.

Writing is not going all that well. Of course that I've completely played off  even attempting to do any writing may have a part to play in that.

happy birthday wishes

  • Nov. 1st, 2009 at 6:52 PM

So I can't write a happy birthday ficlet, cause I totally fail at that these days.  I can't find and post pretty boys in various stages of undress, as I'm on work computer, and they have all that fun stuff blocked.

But what I can do is wish one of the truly nicest people in fandom a very, very, merry Happy Birthday.

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays [info]alaana_fair I hope it's filled with lots of hot boys having amazing hot sex. in story form/ art form or photo form/or even video form.  *waggles eyebrows*

Time fior the monthly book review.

  • Oct. 31st, 2009 at 7:53 PM

As many of you may have noticed, I quite often have a theme for the books I choose to read in a months time. We had Manga for the month of August, September was memoirs, October was the month for gay novels.

I managed to complete eight of them. The last one I finished at about 5pm this afternoon.  I'm not sure how much I'm going to remember from the earlier ones, or why I liked or didn't like them. I'lll just try to do the best I can with the reviews.  Some of these were recommened by you guys, some I had already and had been planning on reading. Some were just the luck of the draw.   I did purchase Without Reservations and MindFuck.  They will have to be read sometime in the future.

It's pretty long so I put it behind the cut, so as to not take up too much space.

book reviews )That's it, the review is done.  There has been some talk of a possible book exchange program on LJ, and I'll be offering up the following in the exchange.  A Boys' Own Story, and Gay Erotica of 2005.   The other's I will be keeping for a possible reread.

The next reading genre?  I'm not sure, as I'm starting NaNo and probably won't have all that much time for reading.  I may just concentrate  on that and the reading of fanfic, as I'm woefully, I mean woefully far behind in reading fanfic.  Luckily I do have a plan and a huge outline for the NaNo thingy.  It will be fan fic, and hopefully I can do it justice.

(I tell you it really sucks when you're going along minding your own business, and out of the blue, like muggers in the night, you're blindsided by the demons, right before something great and fun in your life is about to happen.  Sucks, sucks, sucks.)

I'm curious.

  • Oct. 25th, 2009 at 10:01 PM

Has this ever happened to anyone else?  You're reading a book, or a fic, or watching something on TV when there is just this flash, almost quicksilver thought or even a vision that pops into your head  and even into your emotional soul, and you think, "Oh I that would make a great fic". But then just as fast it's gone.  You're still left with the emotion of it, but you have no idea of what the idea was, or even what it was that prompted this idea or feeling.

This happens to me all the time. It's quite annoying. Anyone else?
